From September 24 to September 25, the 1st PKU-UTokyo-NII Joint Forum on Information Science hosted by the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), was held in the Moonlight Hall of Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center. The sub-forum on September 24 mainly included academic reports and laboratory visits. In the main forum on September 25, the deans of the three parties introduced their schools respectively and discussed the modalities of cooperation in dept. 
At the opening ceremony on the morning of September 24, Professor Hu Zhenjiang, deputy dean of the School of EECS and head of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, delivered a welcome speech. He welcomed the arrival of the representatives of the three parties, and thanked Professor Gao Wen - dean of the School of EECS, Professor Masatoshi Ishikawa - dean of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, and Professor Masaru Kitsuregawa - director of NII, for their support for this forum.

Professor Hu Zhenjiang Delivered a Welcome Speech
The academic reports were divided into four parts. Twenty-nine professors from Peking University, the University of Tokyo and NII, introduced their lab research around four topics, namely, Software Engineering and Programming Language (chaired by Professor Hu Zhenjiang from the Department of Computer Science and Technology), Network and Communication (chaired by Associate Professor Bian Kaigui from the Department of Computer Science and Technology), Electronics and Microelectronics (chaired by Professor Wang Xingjun from the Department of Electronics), and Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence (chaired by Professor Shi Baixin from the Department of Computer Science and Technology).
During the laboratory visits, professors from the three parties visited the National Engineering Laboratory of Digital Video Coding Technology for the demonstration of high-speed full-time retinal camera, the National Engineering Research Center for Software Engineering, and the Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies.

At the main forum on the morning of September 25, chaired by Professor Hu Zhenjiang, the three parties held a symposium on how to enhance cooperation and exchanges in the field of information science. Professor Gao Wen first delivered a welcome speech, stating that the cooperation between PKU and UTokyo had a long history, and he himself also had great connections with UTokyo. He hoped that the three parties would continue to deepen their cooperation. Professor Xie Bin, executive vice president of the School of EECS, introduced the general situation of the school, such as personnel, funds, key laboratories, major research directions and overseas cooperation and exchanges. Professor Ishikawa and Professor Kitsuregawa introduced the situation of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology of UTokyo, and the situation of NII, respectively. Subsequently, the presidents of the three parties jointly signed MOU, expressing the intention of continued in-depth cooperation in scientific research and talent development, and exchanged views in the final round-table discussions.

This forum was highly valued by the leaders of Peking University, and strongly supported by the "Peking University Strategic Partner Fund" of Peking University's Department of International Cooperation. At noon on September 25, the leaders of Peking University, including President Hao Ping, Vice President Gong Qihuang and Minister of International Cooperation Xia Hongwei, had in-depth exchanges with visiting Japanese professors on how to promote strategic international cooperation among the three parties. The leaders of the three parties had high hopes for the future of the forum, and preliminarily formulated that the "2nd PKU-UTokyo-NII Joint Forum on Information Science" would be held in Tokyo in 2020.
