On December 18, 2022, Prof. LIU Xuanzhe from the School of Computer Science was awarded the 2022 IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC) Award for Excellence (Middle Career Researcher) for his outstanding contributions on principles, analytics, and implementations for scalable cloud computing services.

The IEEE TCSC Award for Excellence (Middle Career Researcher) was established in 2011 to specifically recognize young and mid-career scholars (This internationally competitive award recognizes top scientists who have made distinguished, influential, and on-going yet towards long-lasting contributions) who have obtained a Ph.D. degree within 6-15 years and have made outstanding contributions to the research in scalable computing theory, methods, or systems, resulting in significant impact and demonstrating long-term potential. This award operates on a nomination basis, with candidates requiring recommendations from 1 nominator and 1-3 supporters. Each year, numerous nominations are received, making the competition highly competitive. Typically, 3-4 outstanding mid-career scientists, who have made significant contributions, are selected from a global pool of candidates. Several previous awardees have gone on to become members of the European Academy of Sciences, IEEE Fellows, ACM Distinguished Scientists, and more, cementing this award's strong academic influence and reputation.
