On November 26, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) released the list of its 2019 fellows, including a total of 443 members from each of AAAS’s 24 sections. PKU Professor Tao Xie from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science earned this distinction as one of the 24 newly-elected fellows who represent the section on information, computing and communication.
Established in 1848, AAAS was the world’s largest general scientific academic society, consisting of 24 sections and more than 120,000 members, and rendering service to more than 10 million scientists around the world. AAAS was also the host and publisher of the renowned scientific journal Science. FAAAS (Fellowship of the American Association for the Advancement of Science) is the highest distinction AAAS would accord to its members, in recognition of their remarkable contributions to promoting the development and application of science and technology
