Jin Xin entered the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University in 2007, and after graduating from his bachelor's degree in 2011, he went to Princeton University to pursue a doctorate degree in Computer Science, under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Rexford, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and Academician of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. After graduating with a PhD in 2016, Jin Xin spent a year as a postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley, under the supervision of Professor Ion Stoica, founder of Apache Spark, a core software for big data systems. From 2017 to 2020, Jin Xin worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. In 2021, Jin Xin returned to his alma mater as an associate professor, researcher and doctoral supervisor.

Jinxin's research interests are computer system software, including software-defined methods, ubiquitous operating systems, and cloud computing. Jinxin's research is mainly published in top conferences in the field of computer systems and networks, including SIGCOMM/NSDI/SOSP/OSDI/FAST, etc., and won the Best Paper Award of USENIX NSDI 2018, the top conference on computer network systems, and the Best Paper Award of USENIX FAST 2019, the top conference on computer storage systems. Jinxin has also won the 2018 Facebook Communications & Networking Award, the 2019 Google Faculty Research Award, the 2019 Amazon AWS Machine Learning Research Award and many other awards. The reason for winning the Orange Award is "He manages and optimizes the large-scale, distributed and heterogeneous hardware resources of cloud computing systems through software-defined network-storage-computing fusion methods and technologies."

Founded in August 2018, the Orange Award is the first public welfare academic selection established in the industry to discover young Chinese scholars, aiming to support more potential Chinese scientific research stars. Since then, corporate support for young scientific research has become a trend. The Orange Prize is open to young scholars up to the age of 35, who are usually new to their Ph.D. and have just entered a critical period of dominance.

This year, the Green Orange Award found this batch of "tinder" of Chinese scientific research through the search of the organizing committee, the independent registration of the players, and the recommendation of experts to participate. They were recommended by 40 academicians at home and abroad, 27 IEEE/ACM Fellows, and 21 Changjiang Scholars/"Jieqing" winners.

After a rigorous process such as preliminary review, correspondence review, and final defense, the organizing committee selected 10 "best of them" from 365 participants: pioneered scientific research no-man's land, made original contributions to world-class problems, and is the new force of China's scientific research in the future.
